So, here’s the deal. IN the united states, the #1 cause of bankruptcy is medical debt.

According to the atlantic, “The combination of unemployment and poor health can then lead to financial ruin. Nerdwallet estimated that 57.1 percent of U.S. personal bankruptcies are due to medical bills, making it the leading cause of the financial calamity that often precedes homelessness.”

RIP MEDICAL DEBT is an amazing organization which buys up people’s medical debt in bundles (at pennies on the dollar) and then rather than attempt to collect on the full amount — they forgive it. Burn it. (Poof.)

And the best part is, because of the way the debt is bundled, “Every $100 you donate relieves $10,000 in Medical Debt.” So. We’re gonna raise $10,000 and cancel about $1,000,000 in medical debt. The fundraiser begins in November and will culminate in a Play and a Party on December 17th which will feature live music, an auction, and the world premiere of a brand new adaptation by Frank Winters of Charles Dickens’ novella, A Christmas Carol, with a party to follow.
